Bonnefanten and Studium Generale bring together the worlds of art and science.

Artist meets scientist

Bonnefanten and Studium Generale join forces a few times a year to bring artists, curators and scientists together in conversation. An inspiring meeting between two seemingly separate worlds. The speakers meet from each other's expertise, working methods and themes and explore what the sciences and the arts have to tell each other.

Lecture about imaging Roma

This time, on the last day of the exhibition Małgorzata Mirga-Tas: This is not the end of the road, Anita van der Hulst will give a short lecture based on the work of Malgorzata Mirga-Tas on the portrayal of Roma from the late 15th century to the present. Dr Anita van der Hulst is a journalist and social historian.

Role Roma artists

Van der Hulst then continues the conversation with Huub van Baar on the role Roma artists play in debunking strong myths and stereotypes. Roma activism, fuelled in part by Roma art, is playing an increasing role in debunking racism. Prof Huub van Baar is professor of political science, KU Leuven.
