Nederlandse Dansdagen 2021: Toer van Schayk
During the Nederlandse Dansdagen 2021 the Bonnefanten organizes several activities.
Throughout his career, choreographer and visual artist Toer van Schayk (1936, Amsterdam) has defied any single form of artistic expression. From choreography to painting, sculpture to scenic design, the sheer breadth of his oeuvre stands as a testament to a life lived in and as art. To honor this—and in celebration of his 85th birthday—the Dutch Dance Days’ dansMuseum is paying special tribute to one man’s unique artistic vision and to the example he sets as a multidisciplinary dance artist.
In collaboration with the Nederlandse Dansdagen, and as companion to the online exhibition
Changing Shapes: Five conversations with Toer van Schayk
, the Bonnefanten is pleased to present drawings from Van Schayk’s recently completed episodic series. The thirty drawings presented here are accompanied by a filmed conversation between Van Schayk and art and literary historian Prof. Dr. Emilie Sitzia. This exhibition is on view from 30.09
