On Friday, August 16, Lumière Open Air presents the classic Paris Is Burning as the closing event of the special series: Isaac Julien In Context. Prior to the film screening, there will be a Vogue workshop and showcase by Eindhoven Ballroom.

Vogue Workshop and Showcase
Before the screening of Paris Is Burning, a Vogue workshop and showcase will be held by Eindhoven Ballroom. The collective, which received the Cultuurprijs Eindhoven last year, will take you into the world of voguing, which is much more than just dance. Through the performance styles of Old Way, New Way, and Vogue Femme, you will learn how self-expression, creativity, and individuality can be embodied. The workshop and showcase are free with a valid entrance ticket. Registration is possible from 19:30 on the festival grounds (first come, first served).

Isaac Julien In Context
The Vogue workshop and showcase are part of the Isaac Julien In Context series, which was developed in collaboration with Lumière. As part of Isaac Julien's exhibition What Freedom Is To Me, the series presents films and documentaries that provide context for the work of the internationally acclaimed British artist.

As the finale of the series, the modern classic Paris Is Burning will be screened during Lumière Open Air. In this groundbreaking documentary, Jennie Livingstone searches for the best Vogue dancer in New York.
