Loans at the Senate

To increase the visibility of the work of artists and the museum's own collection, the interior of the temporary accommodation of the Senate has been decorated with works of art from the collections of Dutch museums, such as the Bonnefanten.
The Bonnefanten practices a generous loan system, not least in the interest of the individual artist, who after all has an interest in making his/her work as visible as possible. Works from the collection will, for example, be on loan in the temporary premises of the Dutch Senate from 2021 to 1 March 2027. Due to the renovation of the Binnenhof, most of the residents have meanwhile moved to a temporary building. In addition to the existing works of art, the interior of the new location of the Senate is decorated with works from the collections of Dutch museums. Three themes were decisive in the choice of the loans: connection between past and present, reflection and imagination, and the look outwards. They encapsulate the essence of the work of the Senate.
With an eye to the visibility of the collection, the Bonnefanten was also pleased to contribute to this loan, which includes paintings by Jef Diederen, Hadassah Emmerich, Antoine Berghs, Rik Meijers and Fons Haagmans, as well as a neon installation by Rudy Beerens: 'FietsenRudy' (a reference to the art space of the same name (1982) in Maastricht, where young artists could develop in complete freedom.
The artworks in the Senate will be on view to the public during Open Monuments Day on Saturday 11 September.
