14th – 16th century. In the collection of Italian paintings, the emphasis is placed on the northern Italian regions of Milan and Venice, as well as in Tuscany. The highlights of the collection include the works by Andrea Vanni, Jacopo del Casentino, and Carlo Crivelli.
The collection of Italian paintings at the Bonnefanten Museum consists of panels produced between 1300 and 1600. The majority come from Siena, Florence and Venice, the most important centres of painting in Italy at that time.
Examples include works by the Sienese painter Sano di Pietro, Francesco Melzi, Marco Marziale, Andrea Vanni and Giovanni del Biondo.
